Sister Mary E. Loftus, RSM, Beloved Sister of Mercy for 76 years.
Formerly known as Sister Mary Pearce.
Devoted and only daughter of the late Elizabeth nee O’Connor & Patrick Loftus.
Loving sister of the late Reverend Joseph Loftus, O.S.M., John & Patricia Loftus, & James & Jean Loftus.
Proud aunt & great aunt of many nieces & nephews.
Prayer Service and Visitation, Thursday January 15th from 9:00 am until 10:15 am at Mercy Hall, Illinois Room, 10044 S. Central Park in Chicago.
Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 am at Mercy Chapel.
Inurnment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Sister Mary Loftus left a prayer of thanksgiving to God for seventy-six years of Mercy life and mission. She served the people of God as a teacher in numerous schools of the Chicago Archdiocese and as principal of St Matthew, Glendale Heights in the Joliet Diocese (1961-64), St. Catherine of Siena, Oak Park, IL, (1964-69) and Mary, Seat of Wisdom, Park Ridge, IL (1969-72). She directed the Program of Religious Education at St. Raymond Parish, Mount Prospect, IL and was the Associate Director of RENEW, a program to enhance the pastoral life of parishes of the Diocese of Joliet. Mary held graduate degrees in Educational Administration from St. Xavier University, Chicago, IL and in Theology from Graduate Theological Union, Berkley, CA. Well done, good and faithful servant.
