Sister Maryellen Callahan, RSM, Beloved Sister of Mercy for 68 years.

Devoted daughter of the late Marie nee Ryan & Gerald Callahan.

Loving sister of the late John & Joann Callahan, Jerry & Addie Callahan, & Timothy (Anita) Callahan.

Proud aunt of David, Jerry, & the late Michael & the late Christine.

Prayer Service and Visitation Thursday January 8th, 9:00 am until 10:15 am at Mercy Hall, Illinois Room, 10044 S. Central Park in Chicago.

Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 at Mercy Chapel.

Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Sister Maryellen’s motto was “Love Serves”. She lived her motto each day as she served others. Sister Maryellen summarized her life of service during her 60th Jubilee Celebration. Sister wrote “It has been my pleasure to serve many children during the last 54 years of ministering as a teacher, counselor, and administrator. I am grateful to the Sisters of Mercy, my family and friends, and the parents who have entrusted their most precious gifts, their children, to me. I learned so much from each and every one. It has been my pleasure to live, learn and serve these 68 years in Mercy”.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sisters of Mercy, 10024 S. Central Park, Chicago, IL 60655 would be greatly appreciated.
