Lawrence “Larry” Sunquist

Lawrence Sunquist, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and longtime educator, passed away on December 3, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Chicago, Illinois, and a resident of Evergreen Park, Lawrence dedicated 38 years to teaching art, ceramics, and photography at Evergreen Park High School, where he was fondly known by students as “Mr. Sun.”

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Rosalind Long Sunquist, and their children Jessica Hanson (Erik), Vanessa Estep (Tony), Steven Sunquist (Beverly), and Michael Sunquist (Sjofn). He was a proud grandfather to Téa, Benjamin, Amanda, Chace, Isla, Logan, Aubrey, Sienna, Sloane, and Camden .

Lawrence will be remembered for his creativity, kindness, sense of humor and lifelong dedication to inspiring others. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
