Jeanne Marie Casey, age 98 passed away peacefully Monday April 29, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late Marguerite and John Byrne, loving wife of the late Bernard Casey. She was born on April 18, 1926 in Chicago. She was the loving mother of Patrick (Kathleen), the late Anne Marie Casey (John), Michael (Maureen), Daniel (Mayka), and Timothy (Amy). Loving Grandmother to 12, Great Grandmother to 10, and Great Great Grandmother to 2. Loved Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Jeanne was a proud graduate of St. Casmir’s, later renamed Maria High School. She remained active in the Alumni Association and spent her final months at Franciscan Village surrounded by many Sisters of St. Casmir who became close friends. While busy raising a family of 5 children, Jeanne became active with Cub Scout Pack 3485 sponsored by St. Thomas More Parish. She was a Den Mother for over 15 years and became the District Trainer for new Den Mothers. She was especially proud of her affiliation with Scouting. Jeanne’s life was characterized by her love and dedication to her family, her faith, and her community. She was universally loved and respected by everyone she met. She served as President of the School Board and Altar and Rosary Society at her beloved Queen of Martyr’s Parish. Jeanne was especially involved with the Brother Rice High School community. She served as President of both the Mother’s Club and the Alumni Mother’s Club. She was recognized multiple times for her years of service and constant support of Brother Rice. Jeanne was named to the Hall of Fame and received the Edmund Rice Award. Jeanne worked side by side at Annie’s Boutique in Oak Lawn with her beloved Daughter the late Anne Marie Casey who with her husband John Eggert also cared for Jeanne for many years. Jeanne was especially proud of her Irish Catholic heritage. She travelled to Ireland many times and connected with her extended family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 21, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 at St. Gianna’s Church at 103rd and Central Park in Evergreen Park. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00.

Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Gianna’s Parish.
