Sister Nancy J. Ponzi, RSM, Beloved Sister of Mercy for 64 years.

Devoted daughter of the late Lucy nee Ranucci & Peter Ponzi.

Loving sister of Jeri (Ron) Davis.

Proud aunt & great aunt of many.

Prayer Service and Visitation Friday, September 11th, 9:00 am until 10:15 am at Mercy Hall, Illinois Room, 10044 S. Central Park in Chicago.

Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 at Mercy Chapel.

Interment private at St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa, Illinois.

After graduating from Marquette High School in 1961, Sister Nancy entered the Sisters of Mercy and began studying at St. Xavier College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary reading. Later, she received a Master’s Degree from Loyola University.

Sister Nancy utilized her training as an educator for 44 years as a teacher in Burlington, Iowa and the elementary schools of the Chicago Archdiocese namely; Queen of Martyrs, St. Stephens and St. Ita’s.

Sister Nancy’s greatest joys were teaching first graders how to read and watching the Cubs win games.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sisters of Mercy, 10024 S. Central Park, Chicago, IL 60655 would be greatly appreciated.
