Lester A. Grant

Lester A Grant, 92, peacefully passed away in his home on September 25th, 2026, lovingly surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2nd, 9:00 am at Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home, 5570 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn to St. Gianna Church, in Evergreen Park for Mass at 10:00 am.

Burial will follow at St Mary Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday, October 1st, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Les was born to Lillian and Anton Graczykowski November 5, 1933. He went on serve in the Air Force during the Korean War and was officially recognized for exemplary action for his work completing the service club on his base. Les continued alife of community service through his work as President of the Evergreen Park Democratic Organization, a Worth Township Trustee, President of Evergreen Aqua Park, and Coach and Manager for Khoury League Girl’s Baseball League.

Les was the father of Laura Leibson, Amy Grant, Lisa (Patrick) Balistreri, Audrey (Robert) Hylka, & Jennifer Grant. He was the cherished grandfather of Hannah (fiancé Matt Seelig) Leibson, Noa Leibson, Steven Grant, Dominic (Kathryn) Balistreri, Michael (fiancé Kate Sparrow)Balistreri, & Stephanie (Vince Giorgi) Balistreri. Les was also the proud great-grandfather of Leo, Mia, Ava, Amara, & Liam and former husband and friend of Judy Grant.

He was the brother of the late Nathalie Grant, & the late Ralph & Mary Grant, and uncle of many nieces & nephews.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to our caregivers from Safelife Home Care: Becca, Aisha and Amir. Also, we are grateful for the excellent care and assistance from Dr. Padmanaban and Tia who were with us until the end and never stopped caring. Finally, thank you to Unity Hospice for their help and support.
