Robert J. Doeseckle
Robert John Doeseckle was born on October 25, 1946 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to the late Robert E. and Etheldra Mary Doeseckle (Schumann). He passed away on June 18, 2026 at home in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Robert was born and raised in Orland Park, Illinois, where he attended St. Michael's Grade School, followed by Brother Rice High School in Chicago. He went on to earn a degree in Agriculture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign — a course of study he grew passionate about.
During his university years, Robert joined the ROTC program. Upon graduation, he was stationed at Fort Bragg where he trained as a Green Beret and earned the rank of Captain in the Army Special Forces. He went on to serve his country in Vietnam, where he met Sang, the love of his life.
After his military service, Robert married Sharon “Sherri” Doeseckle, and together they welcomed their son, Matthew. Robert built a career in food manufacturing, holding leadership positions at Dean Foods and Nabisco. Many years later he reunited with Sang. They were together for twenty-one years and married for almost twenty years. Their marriage was filled with joy, exploration and deep love.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved son, Matthew Doeseckle; his brother, Michael Joseph Doeseckle; and his sister, Mary Sue Plunkett (Mike).
He is survived by his wife, Sang Doeseckle (Lee); his former wife, Sharon “Sherri” Doeseckle; his siblings Margaret A. Corrado (James), Nancy J. Miller (Jerry), Jane E. Wiegel (David A.), and John E. Doeseckle (Donna); and his many nieces and nephews, who loved and admired him as a wonderful uncle.
He was known by his nieces and nephews for the care he brought to family holiday gatherings. After he moved to Hawaii, Robert and Sang would send Christmas packages from Hawaii filled with treats like macadamia nuts and chocolate, books for the kids and a personal note or story for each family member.
Resting at Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home, 5570 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn where Services will take place Saturday August 1st at 12 noon.

Memorial Visitation Saturday, August 1st from 10:00 am until the time of Services at 12 noon.
