Karen P. Weaver
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Karen P. Weaver (née Von Asten).
Karen was a devoted wife to John for 45 years, a loving mother to Matthew (Megan McAuliffe) Weaver and Ashley, and a proud grandmother to Ava, Cole, Hunter, Daniel, and Zackary. Her family meant everything to her, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her children and grandchildren. Katie, her caregiver, was also loved and cherished as family.
Karen was the beloved daughter of Marianne and the late Robert Von Asten, and the loving sister of Sharon Strenk, wife of the late Stephen Strenk.
She was a woman of strong faith, deeply involved with Trinity Lutheran Church in Oak Lawn, where she faithfully served on many committees over the years. Karen brought joy to those around her with her caring heart, warm spirit, contagious laugh, and wonderful sense of humor.
Karen had a true passion for horror movies and was known for being a huge fan of the genre. She loved everything from classic thrillers to scary movie marathons, and she proudly passed that love on to her family and grandchildren, getting many of them hooked on horror right alongside her.
She also loved her dogs and enjoyed going to OTB to watch horse racing, one of her favorite pastimes.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9701 Brandt Ave., Oak Lawn, on Friday, May 8, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
Karen will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered by all who knew her.
