Alexander “Big Al” Hart, Jr.
Alexander “Big Al” Hart was born on November 8, 1944 in North Carolina. He was granted angel wings on December 7, 2018 and spent his final days surrounded by loving family.
“Big Al” touched many people with his strong personality. He was a charismatic and humorous man who wanted those around him to strive for their best and enjoy life.
As a proud member of the U.S. Military, Alexander Hart, Jr. served in the Vietnam War in 1963 where he was honored with the Purple Heart Award. He was honorably discharged in 1966 and shared fond memories of the skills and experience received while serving his country.
Alexander enrolled in Rutgers University in 1971 where he studied Business Development. Later, he went on to pursue a career with the International Harvester Company. He also became self-employed as a construction worker.
“Big Al” was passionate about his relationship with God and, in 1996, he led his family to become baptized at The Apostolic Church of God on the Southside of Chicago.
Alexander is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cunningham Hart; by his loving children, Patricia Hart, Sherita Hart, David Hart, Isadore Hart, Natalie Hart, Katrina Johnson, Traci Hagerman, Alexander Hart III and Carolyn Hart; by his sisters, Marion and Regina; by his grandchildren, Jerjuan, Donye’, Gabby, Isadore Jr, Kayla and a host of other grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 Hoff Road, Elwood, Illinois 60421.
