Aldona grew up on the south side of Chicago with her brothers and sisters living above her family’s general store. They spent summers on the old farm. She learned the value of hard work at her jobs in the bakery and on the playground. She graduated from Chicago Teachers’ College and received her Masters Degree from Northwestern University. She began her 35 year career with the Chicago Public Schools changing lives with her devotion to education and to her students at Fernwood, Beale, Bass, and Eberhart Schools.

She married her love Jim on September 7, 1946, and they created a beautiful family together. Her greatest joy was spending time with those she loved- picnics at Buffalo Grove and family parties with the extended Janulis Clan, Sunday dinners, babysitting, shopping trips, and family vacations.

She will be remembered as a strong woman who demonstrated love and kindness throughout her beautiful life.
